Diplocaulobium phalangillum & Sarcochilus Velvet

For several reasons I have not been very active here during the last weeks... and unfortunately this cannot be changed for the next weeks either... however, I wanted to make a short brake to show these guys :)

this little guy is amazing because it opens most flowers almost at the same time... unfortunately they do not last too long:

Maybe you can remember that about one year ago, I asked for help trying to identify a plant I was offered:
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...miniature.html at the end I did not get that plant, but continued my search and bought a flask of this clone: Sarcochilus Velvet 'Chocolate'... when I received the flask, I was a bit upset because by mistake they sent Sarco. Bessie instead (this is actually an excellent cross, and 5 plants came in this flask! so, it was my win - Camille was the lucky other as she received one as a present from me) I really wanted a red Sarco, so I decided to try again, and order another flask... This time it had the right label, but only one plant inside... well... thi slittle plant has grown very quick and just bloomed.. deception :( this is also not 'Chocolate' probably 'Australian Sunset', which is the other Velvet clone offered by this nursery

Theyre both nice but I really like the Diplocaulobium. Is that related to Dendrobiums?

That first one is soo nice! The blooms remind me of Den tetragonum. It's too bad that you're having such bad luck getting the Sarco you want. The one you have is very nice, but I guess it's not the same as having the 'chocolate'. My Bessie is doing great, she's still busy with her new leaf. Do you know how long it takes for it to reach blooming size?

Camille, I think they should be blooming size in one or two year... the Velvet did in less than one year, but it seems to be a very robust cross..

It was Dendrobium abbreviatum in the past... but the whole group was given genus staus..

They are both beautiful Ramon! I love the Dip.! Very cool flowers. The Sarco. is really pretty too. I know how disappointing it is to buy a plant thinking it's a particular clone and then have it be something entirely different. I bought a Paph. Magic Lantern like that. It turned out to be mostly white with a little pink on it. Not at all what I expected or hoped for.

Ramon,
The issue of white tipped 'Chocolate's was recently brought up in my local OS's journal. Apparently a mix up with labelling led to a batch of 'Australian Sunsets' being sent out as Chocolate's from AON so you can change your label to Australian Sunset. I can understand your disappointment, especially after two tries. Nonetheless it's a good looking Velvet.

Even though it is quite disappointing not to get what you order, they are nonetheless both charmers.

I just LOVE that Diplo, Ramón!! The yellow tips are too cool. How long do they stay open?
