Tuberolabium (Saccolabium) kotense

Not an orchid typically associated with the typical Angaecoides, but one never-the-less. Has all the correct parts by some scientific circles. Anyways, this has been a difficult road trip. I have been working with this guy for over two years trying to convince him to bloom and giving all sorts of special treats like fertilizer, high moisture, constant breeze, etc. I think adding a second fan may have done it? Or was it the change in background music? :scratchhead: Who's to know. Anyways, before you ask, yes it is mildly fragrant. Kinda a fruity smell, maybe :hmm or something else. Very pleasant, but I can't associate it with anything else in my collection - certainly not the "heady" Cischweinfia fragrance.

I appologize for the colors (I am having my workstation rebuilt and am using a laptop right now with totally no control over colors.) The color I see on the laptop screen for the stripes in the throat are way too blue. They should be magenta. Hopefully, that's what you see. I really miss my color-calibrated monitor and workstation :(

Here is one of the spikes fully open.

Hopefully the closeup shows better color - I edited it.

Thanks for looking.

I too am waiting for mine to bloom...Does it just take FOREVER ??
The spike has been there for a really long time, I'm just waiting for some nice buds to pop up on it!

Yes! This is one that seems to take F-O-R-E-V-E-R for the buds/blooms to do their thing. :coverlaugh:

I agree. Think the spikes started for positive (they were bumps for a while) about 2-3 months ago. When the buds started swelling, it took less than a week for them to open.

How cute! Great job Ross! :)

Thanks for this thread everyone. I bought a quisumbingii in Sept. with three very impressive spikes. It looks exactly like it did when I got it, like it's been frozen in time. Nice and healthy, but no new growth, let alone flowers. I guess patience is what I need now that you've all mentioned how sloooow they can be.
