Phals schilleriana and philippinensis

Hey, everyone. I'm wondering about the longevity of a blooming spike and of an individual flower in these two species.

I know bloom length depends on conditions, but it's reasonable to have an idea of the expected length of time a spike would stay in bloom.

Anyone have an idea about this?

Both species I have, I grow them outdoors, as my experience, the flower can last at least 1 month.

No experience with philippinensis, but my schilleriana flowers for at least 2 months with many spikes.

Granny, that plant is beautiful! All those pink flowers-- and the lovely lip. After seeing that, I can't wait to be able to get one. I love it!

BTW, I did look up the schillie in Google's Image Search, and was wowed by the beauty of it, including the beauty of an individual flower.

 How beautiful that one is, Granny. Is your scented?
Mehitabel, you certainly have good taste in orchids ;) :D
I really can't answer your questions about these two being in bloom. I just picked up 3 schillerianas of different clones. I love growing them, their wonderful strong growers - can''t say enough about their beautiful leaves. Hope you get one or two ;)

Philippinensis is on my next years list

Beautiful Schillie Granny! Your's is a real showstopper! I love them because the leaves are almost as pretty as the flowers. :)

I have both phals...it blooms in spring; and like Granny the blooms last for a couple of months...and then after three weeks the spike brings another set of bloom on the same spike averaging to at least 5 months of blooms, then it grows three leaves and thick roots in summer and blooms again for the fall..then in winter it rests...I have mature specimens both 4 year olds...you can get a mature blooming specimen(3 yr olds=14 inches leaf span) from White Oaks Orchids of San Francisco for $45...and I got my shillie from Ebay 2 yrs ago for $24 but it was a seedling of 18 mos old with 5 inches leaf span
