First time grower...

Hello Everyone. I have been wanting to grow orchids froms seeds for quite some time now but have been turned off to it because of how difficult it seems to be but I have decided to try it anyway. I know bits and pieces of the process and was looking for some good info to start with. A step-by-step guide would be wonderful but I'll take what I can get. I would also need advice on where to purchase the seeds since my plants are not currently producing any. I know it's difficult but I love a challenge so any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I'm basically in the same position. Loads of knowledge about the processes unfortunately most not in writing. The two best books I have found are " Growing Orchids from seed " by Philip Seaton and Margaret Ramsay. This was printed by Kew Gardens. Good illustrations and fairly straight forward. The other more techical book is " Asymbiotic Technique of Orchid Seed Germination " by Aaron J. Hicks. Lots of sources for seeds one is The Orchid Seedbank Project

Yup, Orchid Seedbank Project is the only place I know to buy seed (that I would trust). When looking around that site, click on the 'Technical Info' tab for a TON of info on techniques, media, etc. Another decent info site is Lotte & Thomas.

I could always pass along a little seed for you to try without having to buy any. But OSP seed packets are really cheap (most are $4) and you might want to go ahead and get tools and/or media from him at the same time.

Thank you to both of you for your input. I went onto OSP and was unable to access the page where it has the seeds. I sent whoever runs the site an email asking if it was a technical issue or what so we'll see what happens. I'm just kinda back to square one now, waiting. I'm excited about getting started. Thanks again.
