:waving Well, it finally rained so I put my staghorns and a couple orchids that were handy outside for a bath! These are porch plants and don't usually get any rain. While I was outside this gigantic snapping turtle came up from the lake and started walking around in the shubbery. It was huge and scary! :hmm I think it wanted to lay eggs or something. Everyone was enjoying the rain! :photo:

What a beautiful yard. Glad that you got some much-needed rain. We have more than enough right now in the mid-west. Major flooding in some areas. :_( Too bad that it can't be spaced out so that everyone gets some of it instead of too much in some areas and little to none in other places.

Be careful around that snapping turtle. They are vicious beasties. Had a friend who raised ducks and kept losing some to the snapping turtles who moved into his pond. :( I rescued a snapper one time who was crawling across a busy road. Carefully picked it up by holding the shell near the back legs (well away from its head). Its head snapped around as fast as a snake striking and only missed my hand by an inch or so. Ungrateful beast. They're on their own in the traffic.

:waving Thanks all for the compliments on the yard. Only part of that is my yard (unfortunately). That pic includes my neighbors yard too! I steal part of the view from him  !

I know what you mean about snapping turtles. I have rescued them before. They are dangerous! It was the first time I ever saw one come up in the yard like that. Very strange behavior! The rain has been wonderful. Finally everything is green the way I like it. However, I have seen 2 or 3 snails in the past few days :(( so watch out for them!

:blushing: Thanks for the compliments on the staghorns! I love them. I wish I had a big tree for them, but I don't. My one and only shade tree blew away during Hurricane Wilma. They have to live on a covered porch and don't get near enough water (rain) to keep them happy. The best I can do is take them out in the yard when it rains. But they are very heavy when soaked and hard to hang back up. :scratchhead: I need to make an outdoor structure for them (someday).

Beautiful yard(even if part is your neighbour's) and staghorns and ooh the turtle, need to be careful.
The rain has started in Trinidad as well , onstart of the rainy season and everything is green suddenly.

You're so lucky to have received rain. I'm on the east coast of central FL. We received a small shower at 3:00 a.m. a few nights ago and that's it. I was awake for the rain event and went outside to move any sheltered plants out into the rain. I notice a few random rain clouds here and there, but they fade off into the distance.
