Recently purchased this beautiful orchid and wondering if I should divide this pseudobulb off or leave it as is. Thank you for any input -Melanie

Definitely don't divide! These tend to ramble. If you repot, I suggest something like a bulb pan - much wider than it is tall. As the plant grows, you can coax the new growths into a circle around the pot. But you need all of the strength of those older growths to give the new one the oomph to bloom. With luck, it'll put out new growths in more than one direction, leading to an even better show. Sphagnum is a good medium for Bulbophyllums - they like to be wet.

Hi Maree! I've got this one from 10 yrs ago still in its original 3-4'' plastic net pot. Never wanted to divide it as each yr. it put out more and more spikes. Growing thru the pot openings all around. A few sections fell off due to the weight of them and don't know how much longer I can get away with this method. She's mature and so far so good. Good luck!
