Not sure what’s happening with my Orchid
4 Attachment(s)
After the last bloom, both of my orchid stems started browning so I cut them. The leaves look pretty good still, and recently a new one just grew in. But I’m seeing some new growths. One at the end of a root, the other in between the leaves. I think the one in between is a new stem, but I’m I sure about the one on the root. Is it a keiki? I’ve attached pics for reference. I’m about a month away from refreshing the soil, but are there any other things I should be doing as far as care while these new growths do their thing?

New Roots :) I would move up the repotting...

Welcome to Orchidboard!!
The nubbin at the base of the leaf looks like it may be a spike. It's the right position for it, right time of year for it, and looks suspiciously like one, though rounder than I'm used to seeing. It it very round like those new root tips (yes, though are root tips on that root), or a bit flattened? |
They all look like roots to me, although the one coming out between the leaves did give me pause for a second. Keiki’s are quite uncommon in most phals.
With phalaenopsis, 95% of the time a new growth will be a root, 5% will be a spike, and the remainder will be a keiki. :P |
I'm inclined to agree with Camille, new root tips and a spike. Nice amount of healthy roots by the way.

Agreed, all good news!

Thank you guys! Cutting the spike made me feel some kind of way although it was completely brown and needed to be done. I'll def move up the re-potting! Thanks!

Nub is a spike. Healthy roots. I would not repot till your flowers are done flowering.

You guys were absolutely right, again thank you. I currently have no flowers, is is safe to repot while everything is growing?
|
Phals are not picky about repotting. If the medium is old you could repot. Use the smallest pot into which the roots fit. Medium to large bark are good choices. Use the Search function above to read about various potting media.
