A 'different' Cattleya flower

Late last year Fred Clarke posted some first bloom seedlings on Ebay, which had a different color combination (spots on red/orange flowers with a splash).

I bought 10 seedlings of this new cross = Cattleya (Cosmic Angel x Katherine Clarkson), and has just had the first one bloom. While this plant did not pick up the spots, it has a lip, which is fully unfolded. This creates a somewhat unusual look:

Two more have bloomed by now.

The 2nd flower is somewhat larger, and has some light speckling on the sepals.
The 3rd flower has combined the optimum features of the parents, splash petals and spotted sepals.

That is really nice!

Spectacular variation! A family portrait. As different as kids in a family. If anybody wants to see the difference between seed-grown plants and mericlones, a pretty spectacular example.

Ya I love the variety! Perfect illustration of why it's not weird to buy ten of the same cross!

Lovely variety, hopefully the other remaining plants show just as much diversity.

One more has bloomed, with a distinctly different type of coloration:

Ruben Colemares works with Fred Clarke and also makes his own crosses. Last night he sent me multiple photos of a new Cattleya hybrid, Sagarik Wax x Peckhaviensis. It shows amazing variability in the lip. They're on his Instagram @Rco90808 .
