Cattleya Leoloddiglossa coerulea
Very cool and very fragrant hybrid from Sunset Valley Orchids. I got a division from a friend about 4 years ago which was not cut when the plant was actively making new roots. The plant languished that whole time and is just now bouncing back and blooming.
Here's a video I made about the flower and about how repotting at the wrong time can set you plant back many years: Show & Tell Plus Cautionary Tale - Cattleya Leoloddiglossa - YouTube https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...396f6b35_h.jpgCattleya Leoloddiglossa by Stephen Van Kampen-Lewis, on Flickr |
What a stunning flower! I really like it. I am very glad that your Cattleya has recovered.
I had to pot up some aclandiae hybrids (two were schilleriana/aclandiae) this summer...after the new growths had produced roots. I really hate doing that for the reason you mention here. I left the old roots mostly exposed to try to soften the blow. We shall see what happens. |

really nice, I'd buy that any day after watching your video although a 4 year wait might push my patience a little, still sounds like it was worth it
