Catasetum lanciferum
It's not an impressive bloom for this species; but I'm very pleased it bloomed at all.
I most definitely wouldn't have been able to keep the plant alive and (hopefully) well without all the precious tips from Cat experts out there  https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d01974bc_k.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...db2db5ba_k.jpg |

Those blooms are gorgeous; congrats!!

Beautiful! Does it smell minty?

Thanks all!
My orchids dealer said this species is closely related to Catasetum gladiatorium and barbatum, and is one of the easiest Catasetinae. It's a first bloom and culture isn't perfect, so it has a lot of room for improvement. Happy plants can be extremely showy and have dozen of flowers at once. Quote:
Not that I can tell yet. Flowers have been open for 3-4 days and are still developing, maybe it'll come later? |
Looks like a RRRRAAAAAWWWRR Feed me Seymour type bloom. Don't get fingers too close, please!
