noid phal (?) putting out a chunky one

hey orchid people,

my girl got me this noid orchid over a year ago. it is orange, and was in bloom with 2 spikes when we got it, and seems to be a fairly mature plant. after the flowers dropped, i cut one spike back all the way and left the other with a couple nodes on it. over last summer and fall it didn’t do much of anything, and so we repotted in around february. now it’s come back to life, and grew a new leaf in about a month (the larger newest leaf in the left is brand new, super fast growth), and a second leaf is coming out! this spike started to grow about 2 to 3 months ago, and is like a crazy gnarly looking thing. i thought for a minute we might be getting a keiki at the one node, but now not so sure. anyways, just wanted to share some nice growth pics, and hopefully in a couple months follow up with some blooms

edit to add, im now not so sure this is a phal, and maybe a vanda relative or something? maybe you folks with more experience might give us a little hint there. also, i was assuming it put on only one leaf a year, so i estimated it at about 12 years old, but now seeing 2 leaves im thinking maybe 6-7 years old. either way, prolly the oldest one we have in our collection.

2nd edit, sorry, i thought i was putting this in the bloom forum, mods please move if necessary!

Good growing. When temperatures and watering are adequate Phals can put out a lot of leaves each year. In a relatively cool home they might make 1-2 leaves a year. You can't tell even an approximate age for an orchid plant once past the seedling (or small mericlone) phase.

thanks for the reply es!

i c about the age thing. it would be nice to know how old some of these plants are when we get them, but as long as it keeps growing it’s all good i suppose.
