Sade Orchids Display 🌸

While I am organizing the perfect place and doing the pertinent work to get the orchids outside to the garden this summer for the first time and here I'll post the updates about that Orchid Garden.

But, I couldn't resist and post about my two super helpers; I am sure that all of us who have dogs have them close by when we are at work with our orchids.

These are Tremen (9yrs) and Kasi (1yr) ....💕😍🐕

Oh, yes, orchids and dogs are two of the things that make life enjoyable for many of us! Both your orchids and your dogs look well-loved and cared-for. :)

So novice Kasi is learning the art of orchid culture from Tremen? Looks like a quick learner.

They are adorable

I have to comment on what a magical space that eating area is! I would be able to spend hours with that view of urban but still surrounded by such lush greenery. Well done

Right? A magical place to sit and ponder life.

Hi Dirty and Water W..
It is a full living area in summer everyone want to be out here; views and bbq, amazing. I am really thankful for this. And, I am building a greenhouse in a near terrace looking over that same view as well.

BTW I need some advice from all of you in regard to cover .. I'm not sure if in summer I will be able to keep the orchids here without frying them... ?!¿ I am not planning to enclose the area yet, just cover the top.

I'm a big fan of shade cloth... most of my yard has 60% shade cloth, because in summer it toasts (full sun, no shading from trees) from about a half hour after sunrise to half an hour before sunset because it's oriented east-west. In winter it doesn't get much sun as the sun angle is lower and the house blocks most of it from the south. But in summer, there's nothing to stop it (trees are all on the north side of the yard and the sun never comes from that direction)

Shade cloth would help. If you can't find it, latillas might be more decorative.

You might also put wires over the area and train gourds or squash up there for seasonal cover. If you have access to the earth, rather than having to grow in pots, you could make a grape arbor.

Edit: One of my dogs just knocked a bag of flour onto the kitchen floor, then spread it evenly. It's going to be a while before I get to the orchid chores I had planned today.

Hi Roberta,
Thank you very much for the advice, look at the post in the Greenhouse section and I saw there also your recommendation of Aluminum Shade, I will look at Amazon to see what I find, I will leave the bamboo sticks for now, since I have placed them and they give it a touch ... but measuring light is definitely not a great cover hahah

Gracias Estación,
As mentioned prior, I will leave the bamboos, which are similar to the "latillas", (although I have seen it Online, and they are really nice bushy ;)).

Thanks for the ideas and as a matter of fact, normally there is a climbing jasmines that covers and has very nice flowers & smell, but it also comes with many bugs; aphids and spider mites, even with fumigation aphids are a terrible problem, so I cut the branches to prevent get the orchids infected.
I love the idea of a vineyard, I think it is one of the most beautiful creepers.

I hope the kitchen disaster was milder than it seemed! sure the doggy had a lot of fun

My little dog try's to snatch the tag, and if she is successful she runs off with it to chew on until I rescue it or she gets distracted by a lizard to chase.
