Cym. Kuranda madidum hybrid - hot weather approved

a VERY generous person sent me a few divisions cut April of 2020. I received them shortly after and did my best to take all the info shared by their former mom and adapt it to my spot

i used a few pots to experiment but i am pretty sold on these tall goofy ones with many massive holes and the open bottoms. I have removed almost all the peat from my mix and added vemiculite and #4 perlite in its place.

this is almost a year in CocoCompound and it is HAPPY

there are three spikes off of two of the four new growths

i have yet to figure out how to tell the spikes from the new growths until they make it REALLY clear to me so the others may also be showing some fun soon too!

Just to fill out the picture... Cym. Kuranda is Cym. madidum x Cym. suave... two super-floriferous species... A flower machine. Great that you aren't space-limited... not a mini... :D

Cym Kuranda is correct, will take care of search... easy to look up parentage but the search will find it.

The Australian Cymbidium species are quite fascinating; it's just too bad they get too large to keep in cultivation for most folks. Looking forward to seeing the blooms! :D

Kuranda is a region somewhere in North East Australia that is popular for tourists. The cym is most likely named after that region. Kuranda is not too far away from the small city of Cairns.

maybe you need to take an "orchid" holiday and go check it out for us?

not to look at tourists or drink, just to check local orchids AND look at tourists and drink LOL

hahaha DC! I have been there once during a holiday break. Excellent plan about an orchid holiday hehe --- from an orchid's perspective. Checking out the 'locals' (orchids) --- and also look at the tourists - and drink (moisture from the air).
