hello friends, can someone identify these insects?
best regards philipp |
Welcome to the Orchid Board!
I can't see it well enough on my phone. I will look on the desktop later. |
I can't see the pests or net structure... What are the the large "lumps"? Bits of medium perhaps? Still, from the description, and a bit of the green part of the leaf that has a "stippled" appearance, I would be highly suspicious of spider mites. If you wipe the underside of the leaf with a tissue, do you get red streaks? If so, a sign of spider mites. They are very tiny, almost microscopic but do huge damage by sucking the juices of the leaf. If you have webs, probably a very severe infestation.

Hey Roberta, thanks for the answer! I checked again and I actually don't think they are spider mites as they are quite large and seem to like the high humidity in my terrarium (75-85%)
I found some more of them on the backside of one of my orchids. (pictures) |
Probably far off, but could those be termites munching on the mounts?
|
I have never seen termites like that, but I mean it could be. It's just strange that they have sort of a web around them...
|
I've seen those too before, but I never figured out what they were, if they were bad nor how to get rid of them. Haven't seen any in a while though.
