A Mumbai terrace

Hi,

Thought I'd maintain this thread to share updates about my setup.

I am very new to the hobby, but got sucked into it. In 3 months, I've ended up with 75+ species + hybrids. They seem to be doing reasonably well. A few of them are in bloom right now, but to be fair, they were in spike when I got them. I've got a few spikes which emerged in my care, but haven't yet bloomed. Will label them accordingly.

:cheer:

This was one of those which came in spike. Had 3 spikes when I got it, developed 1 more and then started blooming. Has close to 40 blooms, and I thought it was done. But it's started another spike on the newest cane!

Got this in spike. Looks like it was the first flowering for this plant, and it gave 4 flowers. Looking forward to the next instance

This one was in spike, but it put out new roots, and a full leaf, before it opened its first flower. That was a bit confusing since the other phals I've seen do not do anything else while in spike. It has a mild fragrance, which I can't exactly describe yet. Maybe when all the flowers are open, it would become stronger, and easier to describe.

And some root porn :)

Awesome to watch these critters grow, the unlabelled pictures were taken exactly two months ago, on 19th July. The Lunifera is the one on plastic, Vridiflava on wood. The Lunifera absorbs some of its older roots as it puts out newer ones. The tiny leaf on the Lunifera was shed, but the Vridiflava got slightly bigger, two pairs of leaves (4 leaves, appearing in two pairs from two nearby nodes). Looking forward to their blooms!

Awesome! Great flowers. That's for posting, and keep 'em coming! :)

And :1stplace: for buying 75 orchids in your first 3 month as a new orchid hobbyist. Nice. I admire and share your enthusiasm.
