My orchid closet

Took a photo this morning.
I run a HPS light, humidifier, and fan in my closet
walls are covered with windowshade material so I don't get the walls wet when I spray, plus it reflects the light!

I've been running this for almost 3 years now with no problems.

That's very nice setup for a small space.

Your plants look very happy!

thank you! I am pretty much a novice but this seems to be working out ok!

Very nice setup. Do you have have any problems with heat build up using HPS lighting?

I do if the door is closed when the light is on. I try to keep it open during the day and closed at night to let humidity build up.

I also deliberately do not keep cooler-weather species like phrags, unfortunately! I stick to warm-loving species just in case I'm away with the door closed. My cat messes with the plants so the door is closed when I am not here to keep an eye on things.

I have also installed a bathroom type fan in the room to vent nasty air in the summer when it gets too damp. I can run it for heat removal when I am away as well if need be.

I have to give credit to all of you folks living up north and growing under lights. I just don't know if I could do it. I have begonias and generiads under lights and humidity domes and can't keep up with them.

it's a matter of sanity for me - gotta have lots of greenery all winter long!
I love begonias too - I'd love to see pics of yours!

Ever since I started growing Vandas, my phrags have been suffering. They need to go away.

Very nice growing room and setting.:banana::banana:

your plants look great and closets are good :) Ive torn down 2 already put plants in them and tore them up again..they got too hot really fast. In the south texas we dont have much winter and mine did fine. Started getting a little warmer and I have abandoned my closet for more air ,light and less heat..

here was mine :) its all gone now to the front room

Im going to do something with it since I dont have any clothes anymore..had to make room for plants :blushing:

What a great idea!! Love the displays and the plants seem to love their home!

Too bad I don't have any spare closets. In the kitties room, the oldest cat has all her stuff in the closet (my little closet kitty), my husband wouldn't give up the walk-in (which is too bad, I could fit a lot of orchids in there!).
