My Cambria is about to bloom
That's right... when I bought it I thought I probably couldn't provide the right conditions to it...Now I've found this:
http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...psoi84mbcs.jpg The whole plant http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...psvafee6mx.jpg I don't how the flowers are since I bought it after the blooming season. |
Good job
|
excellent!
|
Congratulations! Can't wait to see the flowers.

Update on this cambria:
The spike in the first pics turned into this long spike. It's getting bigger and bigger and probably I will have lots of flowers. The looking at the pic one doesn't see the real size of it but it is more than 55 cm (22 in). http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...pslyatmqag.jpg In the meanwhile, a week ago I noticed a new one comming out and, yesterday, noticed another one (the smallest in the pic). http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...pslg6zugpu.jpg With these spikes, I think I will have flowers blooming during a big part of the winter. I always thought there would be a spike per plant. Is it true? Does this means I have more than one in this pot? |
Nice!
|
Great growing. Quite often it is 1 or 2 spikes on each new growth. So it is likely 1 plant but it has multiple newly matured growths. Can't wait to see what you got!
|
Great growing.

:cheer:

Update: It's taking soooo long for the flowers to bloom. It's been growing since 2 and a half months.
How long do you think it will take? Now I'm even more eager to see the flowers, since they got this strange color, maybe not seen in the pics, but it's something like wine with a purple tone. http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...psghqg77vs.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...pshcibn5ai.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...psjq9tpjmv.jpg |
They are slow. I am waiting for ever for several Oncidiums as well. Looks like yours will have some burgunday and some spots-nice!
|
Now that I'm talking about it, it has begun:

Congratulations, you are an orchid grower! :)
|
Thank you! I do my best!:)

The first one has opened. Finaly I know how the flower is, a strange but beautiful flower.
Hard to photograph, different light settings, different places. http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...pseb671r8c.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...pshpgvxy5q.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...pssfkogxba.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...psrtierr13.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...psalc1mrgx.jpg This looks like this one. Do you think it's the same? |
I think you're correct with the ID. Such a lovely color especially this time of year! Good for you and Merry Christmas!
|
Thank you, DeaC. Merry Christmas to you too!:D
|
It's a beauty. Congratulations!
|
Thank you. TThat best part was finally seeing how the flower look like, because I bought it with flowers.
Next surprise is to see all the blooms opening, there's lots of them, in 3 different spikes.:D |
WOW!!! that's amazingly beautiful, and you have grown it well..
The pot you originally showed had the bar code. Bar codes have a lot of information about the supplier and the retail outlet. Maybe you can use that information to find out the supplier, contact them and ask whether they can identify the plant. Or maybe the retail outlet can tell you where they buy their plants, and give you contact information for the company. |
Really beautiful!

Oh, I love cambrias!

Thank you, my friends. I'm glad you all liked it.:)
When the other blooms are opened I'll post some pics. Quote:
One more detail and one question...this flower has what seems to be covered in floss (I think this is the correct word for it). In day light it's clearly visible and with certain kinds of altificial light seems to be iridescent (this effect is visible in one of the pictures). Now the question...the "Darth Vader" variety I mentioned, does anybody knows if it's fragrant? Mine is not, at least so far. |
Update: most of the blooms (but not all) are open. Two are left in the main spike, and two more in a third spike which, I think, cannot be seen in the picture.
Also a detail of some funny roots, growing away from the light source. http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...psld1tvh9q.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...psekqojpme.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...pseaonysrg.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...pseunnaqxz.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...psrrebc49f.jpg http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/...psra52l8oe.jpg |
Wow! What a lovely, rich color!
|
In fact they are darker than what is seen in the pic. The flowers seem to be covered by microscopic iridescent hair which create "special effects" with the light.:D Unfortunately my phone cam doesn't take macros.
|
Congratulations on a beautiful display! Also, those roots look very happy!
|
Great blooms! Good growing, I like your kitchen too :)
|
Gorgeous!
|
Thank you all, this plant was a complete surprise.
