Masdevallia hybrid

Hey everyone, I've not been very active here recently, but I have been busy with my orchids! (So, expect to see a couple more posts from me now...)

Here is the latest to flower (hybrid name unknown):

 No name? I wanna cry!
This is one I'd love to have!!!

Sorry!! I have two siblings bought at the same time. They were at a local garden centre, so I was lucky to chance upon them. Alas, they were just labelled 'Orchid' !!

Here is the sibling:

:yikes: You have more than one and none for me?
I'll just have to enjoy yours :D
It is beautiful!!!

Does this like cool or warm temps? Just curious...

shakkai 07-06-2007 10:26 AM

Given our weather this summer, I've not had a chance to find out how much warmth this will tolerate. Our high today (20C) is the warmest its been in weeks!

All of these are really enjoying the cool temps...

If it were easy, I'd happily send you one! ;-)

How sweet you are! Thanks for thinking of me :)
Since it likes cooler temps, it wouldn't do well for me here anyway...I'll just continue to enjoy yours

There will be pleny more to enjoy, as there are more flower spikes forming... Now, if I could just get more variety. I'd love some other Masdie hybrids, but I can't seem to find many over here.

But at least these ones will give me another chance to work on my 'plant portrait' photography!

ooh you cant beat a good coloured Masdie can you? And this is one of them.

Love it!

shakkai 07-06-2007 06:26 PM

Thanks! Yes, for little plants, they pack plenty of punch - and really command attention.

You'll have to let me know when you have some more for sale!

That's a wonderful bloom, very exotic! Judi

shakkai 07-10-2007 02:56 PM

Thanks, Judi! I'm quite pleased with how both of these turned out. They weren't in flower when I bought them, but I recognised the typical Masdie foliage and thought I would take a chance on what they would look like.

Djarum Black 07-10-2007 03:03 PM

oh wow, those are really spectacular looking! Congrats and great growing! :D

shakkai 07-10-2007 03:16 PM

Thanks, DJ! They do make my heart beat faster when I see them flower.

Tindomul 07-10-2007 03:41 PM

Its very beautiful!! The orange and white is beautiful!

shakkai 07-10-2007 03:47 PM

Thanks! So it seems it was worth the risk of buying them out of flower. :D
