Tiers Added to Greenhouse Bench
Have been wanting to do this for awhile, since I had them in the old greenhouse. Not only do the tiers help to display the flowers better, they actually open up bench space!

Gorgeous! What a display! And I love the cute little yellow Dendrobium hanging above all the plants, and I like what you did with hanging your Tolumnia's! I may have t steal that idea!

Beautiful, so colourful. And is a staghorn fern at back, it is huge. Love how you have it mounted.

Fabulous display! I love the tiers---I am also going to steal your idea and have a summer "honey do"

Thanks - Just wish I'd done it sooner!

What wonderful orchids! Makes me just itch to get my own greenhouse one day! We rent. :(

Beautiful display!

Very nice - I have done a similar thing with outside shelving for summer displays of plants in flower - but in wood. I suppose in the green house one could use those shelves they sell for stacking canned food so you can see whats at the back of the cupboard..

where did you get those benches? they look sturdy.

Got the materials from Greenhouse Kits, Garden Centers, Hobby, Commercial and Aluminum Greenhouses from Growers Supply
I couldn't find 30 inch benches pre-made, so I used their 1.5 inch galvanized square rectangle conduit and fittings. The bench tops are the 13 gauge galvanized. All were cut with a metal cutting circular saw blade. Just be aware that they will be quite heavy! Here's a shot of a completed bench: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...d/IMG_1228.jpg |
That is an awesome staghorn fern in the back of the photos. How long have you had it?
The orchids are gorgeous, too. |
Hi Connie -
It's a Platycerium superbum purchased about seven years ago from Chula Orchids. Sadly, they are no longer in business. The plant came mounted on a board with a box built onto the back for the medium. Occasionally, spores self-sow in my orchids and I pot them up and give them away. Here's a shot from when it was young (you can still see the board): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../superbum1.jpg |
beautiful staghorn, how old is it?

Tiers Added to Greenhouse Bench
Lovely, well grown display. I now know how long I'll have to wait to see my Platycerium supurbums get any size. They are small plants now. I have an elephantotis that is growing madly and a madagascariensis that seems to be doing OK too (among others). Orchids and staghorns seem to compliment each other quite nicely.
