I've been enjoying this board for some time now, so I thought I should join and say as much ! Thanks to all of you who share your knowledge and answer questions with such care and patience.

I've had a few orchids around the house for about 10 years, and have added new ones fairly regularly - miniatures lately because of space concerns. I have several racks of fluorescents, and am considering a terrarium for the office.

I'll try a picture (I hope) - a perspective not often seen.

Hi Rob...welcome!

It's nice to meet you, and I'm sure that you'll continue to enjoy yourself here at teh OB.

I too am wondering what the photo is that you posted. The perspective sure is unusual. :scratchhead:

For those who asked, the picture is an electron micrograph of Pleurothallis grobyi - one of my students took it. I'll try to post a larger version and one if its pollinia.

That's awesome! An entirely new perspective!

Rob9 11-25-2008 01:23 PM

thanks Susanne. I have a few more like this - is there a particular place I should post them, or would it be best to put them on a photo-sharing site and post the link ? I see some size limitations here.

Most of us use a great resizing program, found here along with some tips for posting :photo: :

Welcome to the OB!! :waving :)
Those pics are great looking. They sure give another perspective on orchid flowers. I love the amount of details visible, it's like we can see all the cells of the polliniae!

I'd love to see more photos.:) You can follow the instructions Sue gave you the link to, but posting links from photo sharing sites works as well. Do you also have pictures of your orchids?

Wow! Talk about details...very cool Rob!

Thanks for sharing these...I look forward to additional posts of photos like these, and of your chids. :D
