i love the Myrmecophila - really wonderful coloring and patterning. :)
|
Thanks! That is actually the mother of a few of my plants. I just always loved that pic because that inflorescence is about 9’ long. That perspective was always fun to me.
My flowers of the same plant are always pinker. |

Pew Pew Pew Indeed!
|
the white borders on the dendrobium flowers are quite stunning! :)
|
I got my mother-in-law a dendrobium that looks exactly like your "pew pew pew". The tag reads Den. Remy Hartmann
Orchid Hybrid: Dendrobium Remy Hartmann | ORCHIDS.ORG Hers is also in bloom and smells like black licorice. |
okay- i have to go tag hunting....that is a really close match....i bet it is the same plant
|
i see 16 buds on 3 (2.5) spikes! and she's still putting them out

Last one is probably Bletilla striata... mine are starting to come up too.

Ah, tropical. I live vicariously. Other than falling iguanas. That makes me sad.
|
Don’t be sad, they are fine.
In fact, they are flourishing and evolving and will take over the state, soon the county and inevitably, the entire temperate civilized world lol Seriously, they are a big problem here and I don’t condone the needless killing of anything but cold is their only natural predator and the relative warming of the planet has let them evolve to be more cold tolerant allowing them to survive the cold and expand their territory north. The state has declared that you can kill them any non-cruel way but that is a lot of wiggle room to someone with bad intentions |

Nice that humor can come through in text over the internet :)
Without timing, tone, and my hilarious facial expressions, you really only get a part of the message |
Glad you found the tag for that Remy Hartmann. The moment you posted that photo I knew I had bought one (at Publix) before. That flower shape is pretty distinct and with the white border. I just had to search through some really old photos to find it. Now you need to let me know if it smells like black licorice as well!
P.S. I hate the smell of licorice in general which is why I gave it to my mother-in-law, lol |
Poor mother in laws! Lol always getting the shit we don’t like hahahahaha

Yes. Parsley is a biennial. As you know, biennials flower the second year, set seed, and die. If you want to try to fool it into growing another year, you can cut off the flowers.

That rescue vanda root growth looks great and yes, Kelpmax is a blessing for root development. Yes, my two den. nobile haven't bloomed yet but almost there. I would say two more weeks until open. I actually have a lot chids budding right now and my Encyclia cochleata (I think the correct name for it now is Prosthechea cochleata) just opened yesterday. Those catts look wonderful as well and should put on a great show, well, one already is.

Here is one of my Den. nobiles. This is one of my oldest orchids as I have had it for over 8 years now. Last year after it finished blooming I repotted it into a bigger container.
|
That's a monster!
|
Thank you! It is definitely my biggest orchid and quite unruly but I don't mind. It is very happy hanging on my patio in full sun year round.
