what did your greenhouse cost
I just put up a 11x12 plastic and wood house with thermostat conttroled fans and a gravel floor for $8 i used all recycled things people where going to throw out and the only thing i need to figure out is how to heat it.
|
My greenhouse functions as an addition to my home.
Technically, I could remove all the plant paraphernalia, throw down some tile, and put in a hot tub, large screen TV, and a bar  So, my cost was substantially more. We wanted to add to the value of the home in the long run. The guts of the greenhouse, however, were also a pretty penny. I have a Microgrow control system with gas heat, evaporative cooler, automatic shutters and fans, grow lights, and fogger. Furthermore, I also put in a misting system which runs off the r/o tank (booster pump of course). I would estimate those climate control "guts" cost me over $5,000 :yikes: But I love it!  |
Bryan, I like your style. I am attempting to do something similar. I know of a couple of small unused greenhouses in our area and I am going to try to acquire them. Then, LOOK OUT, and let the orchid collecting really begin.

Bryan - don't tease us with stories, we want pictures!!

About three years after getting addicted, I built my first greenhouse for about $200. In the roughly 37 years since then, I imaging "it" has encouraged me to keep going, costing me maybe $50,000 in new structures, equipment, fertilizers, plants,.......

my setup with complete automation cept watering cost me around ten K.....its not a large one, but a very comfortable one and the orchids love it....
