Native Orchids

I took these pictures in June while on a hike in the Bruce Peninsula. Some of the pics are fuzzy...sorry. The date on the camera was messed up so ignore that please.

Amazing orchids!! I want to find them in the wild.

That's quite a collection of finds! I usually only see a couple. Looking forward to next spring - now that I have a camera to capture the enchanting moment :photo:

Wendy, I found a helibore plant near me at a "wildflower sanctuary" this summer. Unfortunately it was past prime. I figure July would be better. Also found a Goodyera pubescens past prime. July for that guy too. Nice catch of spp. Did you find any Calypso? That's usually end of May for bloom.

Lovely cyps. Thanks Wendy :)

Wendy, they look great!! I have always love seeing the orchids in nature. Down here, I have seen Enc. tampenses as few times and it always amazes me how much I baby mine that they are quite happy out in nature without fertilizing and watering schedules.

I've gone an entire winter with only watering my E. Tampensis when I think of it. Summer it gets all the rain nature can dish out. Rarely fertilize.

Excellent photography Wendy and how exciting ... I have not found my first in the wild, but when I do ... way to exciting. Wally where did you see Enc. tampenses ???

With Spring slowly making its way northward I am wondering if there are any orchids in the Bruce Peninsula that will be poking up and even flowering. How about summer. Sure would love to see more images of what is growing as well as images of the area the plants are in and the mosses and little plants too. Any comments on what the plants were growing in. dampness of the soil, soil leaves or dirt or mosses or ??
As Short Circuit would say: MORE INPUT!:photo:
