There are photo posting tips in the About This Board forum. The software is old. The sideways posting problem is well recognized. There are some suggestions in that thread.

Thanks. I didn't read, but in a different context I was trying to reorient IPhone photos on my MS laptop. Apparently they have to be converted to JPEGs then they have full editing options. Who has time for this?

But even more exciting, the violacea is doing great. It's drying out within a reasonable amount of time - no apparent lasting sogginess, and some of the older roots that are visible along the top are sprouting strikingly deeply maroon-colored, green-tipped new roots.

Feeling very positive and hopeful about it.

Thanks for support!

Oh man. I should have read them. But they're making my head hurt. Wanted to post a pic of my new Cycnoches. Another day.

Finally, a pic of the new C. violacea. The sphagnum is working great. I don't drench it to draining when I water it. Even though it still takes longer to dry out than my bark catts, it's noticeably lighter a couple days after watering. Roots are going crazy throughout the pot.

The newest matured growth is the tall upright, which looks strong (sort've in the back here). Waiting for it to break a new bud. It's not exactly dormant with all of the root growth going on. I don't know how this plant works yet.
