does anyone have good advice on planting orchids on gabions? which can be planted?

I once built a mount by filling a wire mesh cylinder with LECA and it was fine.

Assuming the rock used was not particularly basic or acidic, I'd think any epiphyte could be grown on them, but it will take a LOT of watering.

really depends on the inside material

you can use rockwool, sphag, fine chopped mulch, large perlite, large bark, lava rock and or leca (from wettest to driest) or in any combination
