Hey all!

One of my most recent acquisitions, a Pot. Golden Dancer 'NN', is in desperate need of a repot. It's a lovely plant in a 3.5" pot, with at least 25 canes that I've been able to count and it majorly climbing out of the pot.

I'm thinking the best route with this one is to just remove best I can from the pot and put it into a 6" basket and let it roll from there.

Wondering if need to do anything more than that? I could look at trimming old/dead roots to "clean it up" a little but is all that stress on the plant necessary? This is my first foray into a project like this and any suggestions would be welcomed. Photo attached!

Sounds good farley. Does the basket have holes in it? The only thing I can think of for 'basket cases' is that the roots go through the holes etc (if any holes) and hard to get out again.

Considering the way Catts grow, go to 8" basket.

Especially that one! I have found that while plastic baskets are good, wood ones even better - roots tend to grab onto the wood, think of it as a three-dimensional mount. There may still be some wild roots... hanging is best, if placed on a bench it may tend to "mount itself to the bench" unless you keep an eye on it and move it before that happens.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I did have the same thought Kim! After looking at it, seemed like a bigger one would be better. There are newer growths on at least 2 sides so it will need plenty of room to expand.

Roberta, I am planning on a wood one for sure. I like the 3D mount thought, I'm sure it will be super happy that way!

I agree with the above

You could also just split the plastic off and place it in a 6-8 in bulb pan (clay) and surround it with lava rock and some perlite

They like to ramble and take over
