Pleurothallis sandemanii - bloom, culture and notes
Default Pleurothallis sandemanii - bloom, culture and notes

I got this as an experiment

i wanted to see about two things and as any terrible scientist knows, you always want at least two variables in any good experiment

so, poor judgment aside, i wanted to try warm pleuros and i wanted to experiment with pond filter as a replacement for treefern

well, i dont know any reasonable conclusions to draw from one experiment with many variables so....

i used a bunch of long sphag and nylon thread and sewed the plant onto the mound of moss and they were then sewn to the filter. the roots are very happy going into the filter and meandering around...also a second bud in the middle of the thicket

i grow it on the north east side of the lath house which is never in the sun and it gets all the rain runoff from the roof. i have a habit of watering the lath house every day it does not rain but i occasionally miss one. i would say that this plant is almost never fully dry but i have let it dry out a few times unintentionally.

i spray it mostly with rainwater (i have a 2 gal sprayer and the first fill is with fert and probiotics but once i refill its mostly just rain) and once or twice a month i will water in reverse and it gets the good juice

has been happily growing for a few years and now that it is flowering i HOPE it is adjusted and will just continue to do so like my restrpia
