Please enjoy. It is slightly scented during the day and, if you look closely, it has some nectar droplets on its surface. I loved the first shot because it evokes a dancerl

May you have a good one,

Stan.

What a gorgeous bloom... WOW!

I'm officially jealous. My growing space just doesn't do masdies well, and I've fried several of them before giving up. It almost makes me want to try harder... but, poor Masdie in my care!

Thank you very much, everyone. I did try to bring out the best of its features with the pictures.

@SADE2020: you should know this plant has been under my care for an amazing two weeks haaha. Needless to say, it came with spike already. It is planted in a basket pot (the ones with lots of slits) in a mixture of white lava rock (chunk size is around 1cm or slightly bigger than 1/4 of an inch) and a little bit of fine bark. It has some moss growing on the surface. I give it Phalaenopsis-level light or maybe somewhat darker (my phals do get good light, for that matter), and I water it as soon as I see the media has dried on the surface. Because of the composition, if it's dry on the surface it will be moist in the entire pot. This results in watering it every other day and, so far, I have only done one watering with diluted fertilizer. If in the future I show more blooms, then this worked good hahah.

@WaterWitchin: I understand your frustration. I was reading maybe in this forum that keeping them in unglazed pots keeps them quite cooler because of th evaporation. Maybe you can consider that along with growing a more heat-tolerant species or hybrid. If you do, please let us know

Cheers,

Stan.

Also... there are some Masdies that are more warmth-tolerant than others. Masd. floribunda isn't fussy at all. And I have had good success with Masd. infracta, Masd. polysticta and a few others. Most of the big, bright ones not so much...I do have a M. coccinea that was pretty hefty when I got it and seems to be continuing to thrive. But I have had plenty of casualties in the genus. Alas... because the bright ones like this one are spectacular jewels.
