Some more pictures from my efforts at learning to photograph birds...all shot at about the maximum range of my lens on the Fuji FinePix HS 30 EXR. I found that if I put the camera on continuous AF, the subject is in focus.

Love to rummage over your pictures. I think once I've visited Pahuma too, but haven't seen so many different hummingbirds. It takes a lot of patience to catch only one brilliant bird photo, and your flickr stream has an overload. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think I've ever seen some of these birds, but I really find blue grey tanager very cute!

Thanks everyone for your encouraging comments as I'm learning to photograph birds and wildlife. There are some new photos of Great Blue Herons, which are currently mating and nest buildling, on my Flickr photostream. Also I will be returning to Ecuador in early June where I will again stay at the Alambi Cloudforest Lodge..my goal is to see and photograph as many as possible of the some 50 species of hummingbirds which occur in northwest Ecuador (along with all other birds, wildlife and plants I manage to see) Meanwhile there will be much to photograph in Massachusetts and New Hampshire as spring finally progresses.
