I hope so rbarata! It will be nice for the spike to grow a bit longer out of the sheath first before opening the buds.

Fingers crossed that the buds keep going ----- and that both make it to flowering. If they make it to flowering ----- things will definitely be different this time hehehe ..... that is, the sheath won't be water-logged this time 'round.

It was pretty bad in January, to discover water-logged sheath! But I guess one nice thing out of this is ..... if I purchase a flowering orchid with a sheath from a nursery in future, I'll know what to do! I will check the sheath for water inside heheh.

Now that the most critical stage has passed, we can say: it will bloom!
Looking good!

Thanks for those very uplifting and very nice comments rbarata!!

All systems go. Green lights in mission control room.

Some opening activity with that bud that had the pinky colours showing due to a gap in the tepals at late bud stage.

I took one pic with flash, and one without the flash. Fingers still crossed here !!!!!

Some more opening activity captured this morning. Finally got some nice fresh colours to see, and curly tepals.

These are phone-pics captured using my old Samsung S2 phone.

Great! Are the colours in the photos the same as in the flowers?

Rbarata! The colours in the pics are the same as the flowers. They are this brown-tan colour, and the lip is sort of like a purpurata maybe.

Thanks so much for having joined me with watching all the various stages of the budding for this one.

I'm really looking forward to the next flowering ...... not my flowering though, but your flowering of your rubra! The reddish flowers of rubra are going to be spectacular. Thanks again rbarata!

Will share more pics with you soon! Last night, it was still a bit droopy and floppy - not pumped up with water yet last night. Maybe due to the wind just blowing through constantly all day yesterday. It gets super windy sometimes in parts of the growing area.

Not sure if it's due to the La Nina thing, or whether there were less aircraft and activity around the world --- allowing the planet to become more 'normal'? haha .... not sure. This year, I noticed much more very strong wind days than usual.

Anyway - the flowers this morning are ok. Tepals are spreading out properly today. Thanks Diane!

I took some pics this evening just before sun-down, with some late afternoon sun light on the plant.

And yes ....... gingercat is actually nearby ... not too far away ..... but is not seen in the pics here hehehe.
