Goodbye to my old friend. Female
Default Goodbye to my old friend.

This is our 20 yr old cat who we had to have put down today. He put his paw on my husbands hand as the vet put the injection in. I feel so bereft! The house is so quiet.

Oh, my! What a loss. Words don't make the feelings any better, I'm afraid, so I'll just say: Oh my, what a loss.

I'm so sorry! I know how you feel. I had to have my sweet old 21 yr old kitty put down several years ago. I still miss him. I've had other cats since but none had as sweet a personality as Arlo did.

I am so sorry for your loss.

We had to put down our two 19 year old cats about a year ago. .. within just a couple of months of each other. One was a brown tabby much like yours and the other was a grey tabby. They were my best buds.

Saddest days of my life. . .awful to have to have an animal put down. I know how brave you had to be for that time, and what a kindness it is to be there for them.

I know the emptiness you feel and the silence that envelopes the house with their absence.

I know this is hard to hear but the best thing you can do is adopt, maybe two, kittens right away. Call the shelters and ask for two siblings that love each other and should not be seperated.

I could not have dreamed that I could fall in love with my new Jasper and Boomer so quickly after the loss of such long time feline friends. But the second I saw those little orange faces. . .I had a new family.

The new kittens could never replace the ones you have lost, but it will fill your heart with happiness again and there are so many little kittens that need a happy, forever home!

Do it! Do it! Do it!

Judi, so sorry you had to go through such an awful experience. I had to put my Rottie down a few years ago and I was absolutely wiped out. It made me feel better to know that we did the right thing for him...it's a selfish thing to keep them with us when it's not the best thing for them. They can never be replaced but it does help to bring a new personality into your lives.

You have my sympathy for your loss. I've been through this several times and it's never easy. The amount of your grief is a reflection of the loving relationship and companionship your animal gave you. You will always carry that in your heart, and be thankful for the time you spent together. They have such non-conditional love, and that's much more difficult to find in people!

I'm so sorry! I know how it is to lose a cat. When I was sick with the coughing flu, I had to put down Rosco. It was the right thing, but it still stunk. I have no idea how old he was. I found him as a stray, and slowly gained his trust. Next thing I knew, he was in the house, with no thoughts of leaving.

My thoughts are with you. It's so hard and heartbreaking when we lose one of our faithful friends.
