If you left some of the root, and it's healthy - it MAY grow at some point (by starting a new grow tip at some point along the length), or it may not.

Where is the black spot?

Not sure if the phone is the problem. As a new member I think you have to have 5 posts before you can put a picture in here. I think you can put it in a photo album on your user profile. Here is the link for posting photos.
Tips for posting Photos

Hope your plant lives for you, if not don't give up. Phals are everywhere and reasonably priced so you could try again. Only water the bark/media area of the plant. Do not water the plant itself. Also let the plant dry out between watering.

I saw your pictures. You orchid does have a chance to make it. I would put some moist loose spag moss around the root area. Then just keep this area lightly moist but not dripping. Hopefully new roots will come. When that happens you can transfer into chunky bark/pot. Take care not to get water on leaves or in crown/stem of plant.

They are tuff plants and hopefully it will make it. Since you already have some phals you know more about them, so that should help.
