Teeny-tiny bugs in humidity saucers
Oh my gosh, I feel like the pest and disease child today. Once again during my maintenance routine, I filled my peeble rock filled saucers when watering my chids. Dang if I didn't see little little teeny-tiny bugs, white or gray in color running around.  I am sure that they are not just there to sunbath so I am assuming they might be in the medium as well. Any ideas on how and what I can use to get rid of them.

Fungus gnats if what I am seeing is one of the stages, its possible, but nothing flying around, as of yet. When I say itty-bitty they are like oval pin-head type shape...I'm baffled. I am not home but will make a point to pull out the magnifier to give more detail when I return.

How tiny? Tiny like the period at the end of this sentence???. If you blow on them do they seem to jump about two or maybe three inches? If so, you might have Collembola, aka springtails. These are harmless decomposers, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh, my gosh Tind, I looked at these little guys tonight, brought out the heavy artillery "magnifying glass and flashlight". I did not see them in the rocks maybe cause it was night time maybe they were sleeping, so I though what a great time to smack the pot on the floor and wake them up, yeppers they jump. Harmless you say ... yuck, they don't help pay my mortgage so they have to go. Google here I come.

If they are springtails, you cant get rid of them. They are incidious, and probably live in the soil of your potted plants, and in your backyard, and in your front yard. They eat fungus, and anything that is decomposing. You want springtails.

Well, lets make sure first that they are springtails. These are white to grey, tropical ones I've heard are black.
They jump/spring when they need to, but walk around also.

I like em cuase I cant see them unless I look for them, they feed my little frogs, and keep me vivariums clean.
