Areca Palm W/Orchids Has Fungus
Default Areca Palm W/Orchids Has Fungus

I need HELP, PLEASE. I have an Areca Palm Clump. It is about 15 feet at highest point, there are about 10-12 individual trunks. It has developed a fungus that can be controlled(not cured) by Copper Fungicide or Neem Oil, Sprayed on fronds. My problem, I have several large (Vandas, Dendrobiums) orchids attached to trunks. Over spray will obviously cover the orchids. I am also worried about the ECO damage to the ground and critters living there. Any of you have experience is this or a similar situation. Any and All suggestions are greatfully accepted and appreciated. THANK YOU

You may want to consider liberal use of plant probiotics:

Same way, but palms don't have the thick, waxy cuticles on their leaves that many orchids do, so foliar uptake is also effective.

The manufacturer recommends 2-3 ounces/gallon, every 14-21 days. That will get a good population going. I would recommend that you spray and drench.

Once you’ve done that a couple of times, I drop the rate to 1-2 oz, once a month

Do not expect to see a sudden turnaround. Such treatments take time and do nothing to repair damaged tissues. You’re much more likely to realize issues aren’t progressing a few weeks in.

If you have used any disinfectants or bactericides, wait 3-4 weeks before applying live microbes.
