Unusual discolouration? Female
Default Unusual discolouration?

Hello,
I have been gone for three days and came back to some odd whiteness one my gorgeous mini phal… Do you have any idea what it could be? I added more pictures so you can see she looks healthy and has many roots. After blooming I plan to repot her to bigger pot…
Thank you!

I don't see anything problematical. The one leaf may have gotten a bit more light than it wanted, but don't see any sign of burning.

are you referring to that one white dot on the bottom of the leaf in photo 2? if so, you have probably tried to touch it...assuming it is not fuzzy with little white hairs, i wouldn't stress if it were me. if it is/was fuzzy with little white hairs, then you may have more of an issue on your hands.

otherwise, yeah, like roberta said it looks like a good healthy plant!

phal leaves can often develop spots like that. sometimes it could be an isolated bug munch, sometimes a spot of edema, but often it is nothing to shudder at.

I am referring the vertical white patch on picture 2. When touched it feels kind of rough/harsh?

That looks like sunburn. Phals are shade plants. They never need sun on their leaves.

That looks like the beginning of a sunburn to me. Does the plant sit near a window or grow light where it may have gotten too hot?

Ya I agree with the sunburn diagnosis. Its not ideal but its not gonna kill the plant. Id just keep it out of direct sunlight.
