Purple markings on encyclia tampensis
Question Purple markings on encyclia tampensis

These purple markings appeared on the new growths of encyclia tampensis, could this be some sort of disease, virus or just some deficiency symptoms. Should I isolate this particular plant and plants that were kept together with it for the time being.

i have stuff like that on a lot of my plants, i attribute it to sun and strange things in nature.

always a good move to isolate if you have space

That looks like the purple pigmentation a lot of Cattleya alliance plants form when they get a lot of light. It isn't harmful, but the plant doesn't need that much light. But it's February, and that window might be too sunny in spring/summer unless trees leaf out and shade it. The sheer curtain mentioned in another post will help.

It's probably too bright for the fern.
