Cymbidium (red panther) with black spots
Default Cymbidium (red panther) with black spots

Hi everyone

I hope you all are well

I received 2 cymbidium orchids from a friend who is leaving the country. I noticed that almost all the leaves have these black spots on them and I don’t know if this is a mosaic virus or if it is watering problems. They have recently been reported in fresh media but I am worried that they have a virus.

Any help will be appreciated

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

Cymbidiums almost always have spots like this. They may be caused by scraping, fungus or bacteria. If the plant grows well and the spots don't spread much it's best not to worry about them.

There is a Cymbidium forum here. From the left yellow menu choose Forums. I only have a few, but other Orchid Board members posting there are experts.
