KelpMax overdosing and chronic exposure?

I recommend 1 tablespoon/gallon (2 tsp/gal), applied once a month.

Is more frequent application a benefit? I honestly don't know. Sure, it'll stimulate growth more, but is there a side-effect? I don't know that, either.

Since i posted this I have been using 1 capful per two liters at every watering. I water by thoroughly misting to the point of water runoff once daily (miniature plants on mounts)

I also water my Nepenthes and Heliamphora twice weekly by thoroughly drenching the pot. Coming back later and doing it once more. I flush once monthly.

I have not seen any changes in my orchids or Heliamphora,, however my Nepenthes clipeata, rajah, and spec. Nov. Sumatra have produced several basal growths. These are small plants in three inch net pots.... too small to normally produce basals, and I swear on my life they werent growing basals before I started using kelpmax.



I dont want to exhaust the primary plant by forcing it to produce basal plants, but i am not sure if basal growth "suck" nutrients from the main plant or not. I have not the main plant slowing down despite producjng basal growths.

I can say for sure that i do not believe overdosing hurts anything whatsoever, but i probably wasted a lot for no reason. I used up the very last of the bottle tonight.

The generation of multiple basal growths is a known effect of KelpMax usage, and not just if the dosage is increased, although I can easily see that as an accelerating factor.

I have seen that in paphs, phrags, oncidiums and cattleyas, in addition to my one and only nepenthes. Now that I think of it, I'll add dracaenas and aglaonemas, too.

My most extreme case with orchids was a complex paph I purchased as a single-growth, in-bud plant. Within a year, it had 8 growths.

The real question is whether something in KelpMax causes such a reaction, or whether it is signalling something that allows it.

Granted, I am looking at this through rose-colored glasses, but it appears the dormant "eyes" seem to get activated more readily, so the plant just grows better, as opposed to being a stressful incidence. It is well established that mature plants with multiple growths tend to product more new growths/unit at a time, and that might be due to the "security" a large reservoir of resources gives to the colony. Maybe there is something in KelpMax that adds to that "feeling of security".
