Default Some Phals in bloom

The current Phal season has been a good one this year, and it's nice to have so much color on my shelves. These have always been blooming for quite a while, I just never had time to go through the photos in Lightroom.

The next batch of Phals (Mini Mark, Valentinii, I-Hsin Salmon 'Copper Star', Liodoro) are now spiking, so I'll have more photos to share in the summer!

Phal Pink Panther. This is a trade name, and it looks nothing like the official registered Phal of the same name. My best guess so far is that it could be Phal Samba (Star of Rio x amboinensis). Or it could be another, similar cross... Whatever it is, it's one of my favorites, and also one of my oldest plants (purchased in 2008).

Phal Manniphil (mannii x philippinensis). Purchased from what I consider a reputable vendor, but I do question the ID since it looks so different from all other photos of this cross. It could also be seed grown, which would explain the variation.

Phal equestris.
This is a classic species, and one of my favorites. This plant is grown from a keiki gifted to me many years ago by an ex forum member. This plant used to make many keikis, but hasn't made a single one since moving to my current apartment 7 years ago. The growing area is both warmer and brighter, and likely has something to do with it.

That equestris is simply beautiful! Is it mounted, or just a lot of aerial roots? And how often does it bloom?

It's potted, but actually 2 plants in one pot, and it has a ton of aerial roots. It's been blooming once a year for me, though in the past it was occasionally twice.

I'm pretty sure I need one now. For some reason, when I started growing orchids I went straight into the fire and skipped the frying pan. Probably because of my gateway addiction orchid friend David Bird. I've had lots of grocery store phals as gifts given to me over the years, but never got into the species. I think it's time.

I love them all, but that Phal equestris is especially gorgeous. Getting more branches, instead of keikis, is a nice thing, I think. That P. Manniphil (or whatever it is) is also really nice. I don't see a lot of philippinensis in it either, mannii is sure dominant.
