I was thinking that since rupiculous laelia got the most overall votes and it would be less limiting we would choose "rupiculous laelia" as the spring 2017 project and people could choose any plant within that category.

Oh... in that case, I guess I have no choice but to cheat.

Although... looking up these Laelias out of curiosity, it looks like they'd love being in leca pellets, and I recently got a whole bag of those anyway...

There's still the problem that I have absolutely no idea what to look for if I were to shop for one of these rupicolous Laelias; all I know about Laelias in general is that they're basically Catts and I'm already burnt out on those. And if I were to get one of these, it would have to be a small one, and also cheap, and from a vendor that also sells the Epidendrum centropetalum so I can at least make an attempt to justify getting both (because then I'd only have to pay shipping once).

I'm not sure if my sugestion will be considered "subversive" but I think would be a good way to deal with this project stall.

Instead of "2017 Project" we could call it "Rupicolous Laelias 2017 Project" and who wants to join would be welcome.

The same goes for Skycat's "Epidendrum 2017 project". Once again, who wants to join would be welcome.

And so on...

Andy from Andy's orchids has a number of rupiculous laelias and he may have the epidendrum you want as well The laelia may be a good travel companaion for your epidendrum!

I too am fairly burnt out with regards to the standard cattleya's as well and I think this subset of laelias has a different set of growing conditions as well as flower types and I figured it may be fun to try. They do enjoy growing in gravel type media and supposedly are temperature tolerant. Additionally they dont like to be soaking wet all the time (which for an indoor/lazy grower like me is a plus).

Rbarata I completely agree. We have hit a wall with regards to the project and as such I think any project (however unconventional) would be better than none.
