Hey everyone!

I am just nerding out now because I got to update a page on memory-alpha to include what type of orchid was used in a show!

Favinit plant - Memory Alpha, the Star Trek Wiki

I feel so excited because I've gotten to share some of my orchid knowledge!!
I'm also excited because I loved that flower that Tuvok created, and I just now realized that that is the one my boyfriend bought for me for my birthday last year (which has yet to bloom!): Miltassia Charles M Fitch

I am always so interested looking at the "alien" plants on Star Trek, because many times they do use orchids. What a wonderful and diverse family of plants they are!

I actually always oggle at plants used on television and movie sets now. Seeing and identifying an orchid is my fun mini-game when I watch shows. In fact, in one of the last episodes of the Gilmore Girls, Rory's boyfriend whatsisname gives her a bouquet of pink cymbidium orchids and actually mentions them by name, which was pretty exciting, too!

I was wondering if you guys knew about the Tuvok Orchid:

I bet TOMMYMIAMI would know, with such an impressive collection of miniatures!

Where have you guys seen orchids on TV or in movies? Feel free to share!

Hi, if referring to second link, the picture is just way to blurry to see what type of the plant / or orchid this is :-(

In one episode of Andromeda (sci-fi series), some days ago, one of the main characters, at the end of the story, gave as a gift "the most efficient oxygen-producer plant of the universe, a very very rare, absolutley expensive miracle". It was a tall reddish Sarracenia .
Also here in Italy 2 years ago has been produced a brand new series about Nero Wolf. During the first or second episode, Nero kept telling he was waiting for a rare Renanthera, coming directly from Singapore or near there.. well, theplant was a commercial phalaenopsis.................. shutdown the Tv and went to see my real Renanthera :P
