Default New chids from WOC

I could not beleive all the beautiful displays at the WOC. The pictures I took come nowhere close to those taken by everyone else here. Check them out

I worked on Thursday and Saturday (10-2) handing out programs at the door instead of the ticket office and probably saw a few of you. It was just like stepping into a giant candy store with 10 cents and wanted to spend it wizely. I found 5 new chids to add to my other collection
Slc Jeweler's Art Waiomao 'Plum' hcc/aos
c. Schilleriana var. Sanderiana 'Pauwela' Need info please
Den. Spectabile too cool to pass up
C Dowiana var Aurea x self
Blc Chia Lin 'New City' am/aos

Everybody is already repotted/mounted and looking happy. All are about a year away from blooming (plenty of time to get established) but I'll take pics of the new group so I can compare later.

I picked up a couple for a friend of mine who will get them tomorrow. I know he'll be happy.

My husband already knows that I'll be buying more at the Boca Raton show in a couple weeks. He figured that I didn't want to carry home big plants from Miami. Not true! I wanted plants already acclimated to this area since they will live in the heat all year round except for the few cooler weeks we get this time of year.

Also found some great cork and grape vine wood at Jims Orchid Supply. Really nice pieces and I thought reasonable. Bought one bigger cork and will split it up.

Great, Lorraine!

I wish we could have met but I was there on Wednesday and was in and out so much, I got to know the lady at the front handing out programs
She allowed us to put out a lot of our OB promo cards too...said everybody was grabbing them and when she saw us a little while later, she asked for more!

I'll be interested to see how many folks join us here after seeing those cards

Hi Suzanne,

I printed out the OB picture with the Paph on it and wore it as a nametag on Thurs. until the jacket came off. Didn't run into anybody that recognized the logo. Having RF display right behind me didn't help either. People were overwhelmed at the sight.

I hope we hear from the folks that took the handouts.

Maybe meet up with you at another show.

Hi Lorraine. Great haul. Have a question for you. I received a Blc. Chin Lin 'New City', but I couldn't find any info on it online. I did find Blc. Chia Lin 'New City' AM/AOS, so just assumed the tag was spelled wrong. Do you know if these are two different orchids?

Hi Terri,

It is the same one, Blc Chia Lin 'New City'. I got 2 plants of the same and 1 is spelled right and the other wrong. Wait till you see the blooms on it, huge and gorgeous & fragrant too. I can't wait. How big is yours?

Thanks Lorraine, I'll leave my tag corrected. Mine is BS. My mom got if for me for Christmas this year. It was in bloom when she bought it and thankfully she had the presence of mind to take a picture of the flowers because it promptly dropped them the next day. It looks like it is a dark burgundy color with a smidge of yellow in the throat. Lots of floof.

Well I finally have a couple pictures of the new chids.
On the table are top d. spectible, left c dowiana v aurea right Blc Chia Lin 'New City' AM/AOS and left mounted on grapevine wood c schilleriana var sanderiana 'Pauwela' and right mounted on cork is Slc Jeweler's Art Waiomao 'Plum' HCC/AOS

I'm keeping everybody separated from the rest for a few weeks and adjusting to my lighting conditions outside. Hopfully I'll see growth before long. They all had great roots but needed to be out of the potting material they were in for survival at my house.
