Default Need help with running Orchid Wiz on a mac

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone is running Orchid Wiz on a mac by using Parallels? Earlier this year I installed and have been using Orchid Wiz without any problems on my Macbook Pro but I never tried the journal feature on it since I had originally started the journal on a windows based computer with my other license. Recently I was trying show a friend the journal feature to someone on the license I am running on my mac by using Parallels. When I searched for a plant and then clicked on the My Plant button I got a couple of weird error messages that didn't make any sense and the program would not allow me to save the plant. I have tried this several times and I am unable to add any plants to start the journal on this computer. I'm hoping to find someone who might be able to help me with this problem? I was really hoping to use my mac as my main computer for accessing Orchid Wiz. I have also just emailed Orchid Wiz hoping they might be able to provide some help but thought I would check with our members on here to see if anyone else might be able to help.

TIA!

Becca,

I am using OrchidWiz through Parallels on my Macbook.
It works just fine for the most part; but I did have issues with the Journal like you said. It was very confusing and happened over one year ago.
I contacted OrchidWiz and did a copy/paste of the actual "error message" and they helped me fix the problem.
I believe the location of the Journal was the issue and we had to change the back up location.
Furthermore, make sure your version is up to date as this may also have been an issue.

Sorry my memory isn't better but I can assure you it WILL work.

Currently, my only current Journal problem is that I can't add pictures since the new update...but I've been too lazy (busy?) to contact them for assistance on that one

Well from the error message I am getting that may be my problem. All I can make out of the messages is that the "path not found". I did a screen shot and sent it to them upon their request so hopefully that will help them.

Also you mentioned to make sure the version is up to date, are you referring to Parallels or OrchidWiz? I am also having issues with updates for Parallels. When I start Paralles up I get a message that updates for Parallels are ready. When I click on the link it starts the update process but then a few seconds later I get a message that my internet connection is not found. I'm not sure what this is all about or how to fix it, do you have any suggestions? Sorry I need so much help...lol. Also, I'm not sure if it matters, but I am using Windows XP on Parallels to run OrchidWiz.

I am using Windows 7 with my Parallels.
I was referring to the OrchidWiz being up to date...but I had assumed that your Parallels was up to date.
I will assume you installed OrchidWiz in the Windows XP mode thus I don't think that your Parallels version should matter.
The OrchidWiz people will probably have an answer in a day or two...they really helped me

Thank you for the response (are you by any chance Denise?). I did get an answer today and it fixed my problems. Alex had another customer with a similar situation. The problem was the location of the Journal. Here is the solution I was given for those who may encounter the same problem down the road:

If starting the Journal from scratch, you should specify the location as "C:" instead of something starting with "\\" which OrchidWiz does not know how to do."

This problem is believed to be specific to those using macs.

Alex at OrchidWiz is incredibly helpful. I called him in the evening little expecting to find anyone there, and he was home putting kids to bed, but called me back and walked me through the issue I was facing and got it sorted out.
