What ones do you grow?
I cannot find fresh figs to eat where I live so I have to grow my own. I have Ficus carica 'Fignominal', Ficus carica 'Petite Negra' and Ficus carica 'LSU Purple' as these are the easiest to grow. I imagine that in CA, you can easily grow quite a few varieties outside but, here, it is just easier to pick ones that do not need a chill period or pollinator and will do well in a container so I can lug them into the house for the winter.
I had not realized that there were so many varieties that produced edible fruit. As curious as I am about these others, I cannot start collecting them. I am already planning to give away some orchids to make room for the new passiflora vines. So many plants, so little space.....
