latest order stuck in postal system
Well like the title says I am feeling down that my latest order is stuck in some postal depot and hasn't moved in 3 days.
Not even Black Friday yet. I am going to risk one more order next week (probably a bad move but it will get too cold after that), just seems like places might start to struggle with black Friday and Christmas coming up and all the restrictions in place, I can see a lot of delayed christmas orders this year.

It took 10 days to ship an orchid, in bloom, to AZ from IN. (Still alive I hear). There was no tracking available. It left here, went into a postal blackhole, and emerged in Phoenix. From now on, I use FedEx. Good luck.

I once had an orchid that took around 12 days to get here! That was due to the covid thing slowing down the postal system ....... what's the early covid days.
Things are better now here in Australia. But yep ...... around 12 days was quite a long time. But the orchid was quite ok actually ----- and luckily.
For all my incoming orchids ...... an unpot, followed by mancozeb spray of the whole plant - roots and all ---- followed by repot into new media. No problem.

I just placed one last order for the year (getting cold as you say) and went with a Dutch vendor because like you, I'm afraid of massive delays with the holiday season madness starting.
Good luck with your order, I hope it will be unstuck soon! Which company was it shipped with?
I was actually surprised at how fast shipping can be these days, on wednesday I sent a package to my sister in France (which normally takes 5-7 days) and she got it this morning!

The registration for my work vehicle expired Oct 31. I mailed in my renewal last month and still don't have the renewal sticker. They are unable to answer the telephone but they managed to cash my check very quickly.

Very glad it was received. I had to call our DMV once as the tag hadn't come and they assured me that it had been sent...it just was delayed in the mail. The time stamp proved they had mailed it quickly.
Fortunately, orchids are pretty tough but I can imagine it is frustrating to wait so long for them. I had air plants get lost in freezing cold weather a few years ago (it took a week or so to process my order and then the weather changed). The vendor had paid for them to be flown, had included a heat pack, and USPS had accidentally sent them on a truck. Instead of overnight, it took ten days in freezing weather. Fortunately, after USPS were informed of the mistake by the vendor, USPS did their best to keep them warm and they all arrived safely.

I bought a second-hand car at the beginning of March, just before our lock down. All paperwork done and taxes paid on the day at our Police Traffic office who deal with these things. They issue a temporary permit to drive the vehicle, valid for 30 days, I'm still waiting for the proper permit after 8 months!!
This has brought about another issue. The vehicle needed a road worthiness test (ITV in Spain) at the end of October. It's illegal to have a vehicle on the road without one. But the ITV testing station won't do the test unless I can show a valid permit! Luckily I haven't yet sold my old car so I can use that again for the time being.

helps to vent your frustration sometimes.
They are a week late now and no progress, still stuck in same depot.
Ps: It's DHL who have always been good. I mean yodel and Hermes are pirates so who is left to use... onto UPS...
