Holy Wow! That is impressive. Hats off to you in not only getting it to spike but caring for it, seems way too easy to ruin a spike that tall!

the spike is thin and frail but bends to the wind and very malleable....I had to tie it to three bamboos I joined together before it opened its blooms.
To photograph it, I used plastic butterfly clips, a Vanda wire hanger to a nail in the wall.

This came from a grower in Kissimmee, Fl....way back when I was first starting to build my collection of orchids.

Do you remember the grower's name? Or was it a hobbyist grower who had an extra cutting?

He was a hobbyist who was disposing of some of his orchids because he was moving to a smaller space. I cannot afford expensive orchids so I look for those who are giving them away or looking for adoption. I just lucked out on this plant because I was very ignorant about orchids then....I was just beginning....
