Lemboglossum/Odontoglossum bictoniense

My 2 summer project plants Miltonia spectabilis and Leptotes unicolor don't seem to be doing anything.

I hope they take lessons from their TC-
Lemboglossum/Odontoglossum bictoniense.

I'll post a better pic of it later. I was too lazy to bring it indoors for a close-up.

The correct name is Rhynchostele bictoniense. Most Central American species of Odontoglossum were remove to Cymbiglossum. That was thought to be too close to an Eria relative named Cymboglossum and so the plants were renamed Lemboglossum. Then it was realized that they were related to an obscure, super miniature species called Rhynchostele and they were moved a third time. Everyone now agrees to call them Rhynchostele.

Thanks Eric. I can just barely keep up with all the Catt alliance names.

As far as Oncidium intergenerics go, I'm a bit past calling them 'spider orchids' but not by much
I wonder if Andy (of Andy's Orchids) knows the new name? He probably does and just has oodles of his old plant tags lying around.

Dear Bingo,

Commercial growers are in a bind - they have to try and guess which name will be known by potential clients. That, and there is always a lag time before botanical changes are picked up by horticulture. I am old enough to remember when Paphiopedilums were still called Cypripediums.

I saw many of these plants growing and flowering wildly in southern mexico. It was amazing! But I didnt bring my canera so no pictures
