Ok this might be a stupid question but which one of these is the one that looks like a pansy? And will this plant do well in a window? Or is this a warmer climate plant? I'm outside of Chicago....
i wouldnt reccomed either of these for a window sill because they are often very large and would easily outgrow almost any window you could place them in. Instead I would go for a Miltoniopsis, there culture is somewhat cooler than the first two and they are usually smaller and more floriferous than miltassias. Often you can get two to four spikes on each new growth that they produce. Also try looking into oncidium hybrids as many are compact and will produce an abundance of flowers at anytime duing the year.

Miltoniopsis is the one that looks like a pansy. They take a bit of learning to grow well but do well in intermediate conditions. Don't let them get too much light or heat and keep the mix moist. In the U.S. they grow best in the Pacific Northwest and the New England area.
