Thought I’d share this crazy beast of a plant. I’ve made a couple posts about it over the years and somehow have managed to keep it alive.

I’ve lost track of how old this plant is but I know I purchased it as a single pseudo bulb at a show around 5 years ago.

It’s by far the easiest houseplant I own. It likes anything but direct mid day sun.

It’s pseudo bulbs shrivel to about half their size and that’s when I water it, the next day they will be lovely and plump again.

I tried to count bulbs on this but honestly I kept getting confused as they are very tight and many are on top of each other. I think maybe around 24 bulbs and with this 24 bulbs I have 16 fully formed flower spikes and at any point in time around 5 flowers open at a time, sometimes if I’m lucky a few more. I didn’t realize for the longest time how lovely and strong the scent of this is in the mid morning sun. I can only liken it to floral and honey.

I hope to eventually be able to take this guy to a show(if we ever have one around here again). I’m not sure it is the highest quality plant but it sure is vigorous and makes me happy.

Holy smokes, that is an amazing plant!!! Well done!! Any chance you could post some higher res photos so we can have a better look at it?

I've had a Psychopsis Butterfly for about 10-12 years, but it is nowhere near as vigorous, and makes a new growth every 1-2 years.

Oh! I didn’t realize how poorly those photos uploaded I will try a different method to upload them. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything.

Thank you!!

What sort of media do you have it potted in? I've always hate that these hate repotting, so I moved mine to leca a couple years ago to avoid repotting every 2-3 years. (other than going up a pot size)
