Funny, I find just the opposite... Miltonia spectabilis and moreliana, Miltonia regnillii grow well for me outside (through winter cold), just got Milt. candida which grows well for several other people in my area. The only Miltoniopsis I have been able to keep alive is the species Mps. vexillaria ... I have given up on Miltoniopsis hybrids, have killed too many (in winter) They may not like heat, but I don't think they like cold either. Just narrow-range (like under 50 deg F they get unhappy)
